Ocean County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (“Ocean County BJJ,” “we” or “us”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect when you visit our website, book a free class, join the academy or use our member app, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who handles your information

Ocean County BJJ is responsible for your personal information. Educational Funding Company, Inc. (“EFC”) is our service provider: it hosts this website, receives and stores the requests sent through our forms, and handles tuition billing and member communications for us. EFC works on our instructions and under an agreement with us, and it collects payments as our billing agent. It is not a party to your membership agreement with us.

In legal terms, we are the data controller (or “business”) and EFC is our data processor (or “service provider”).

What we collect

When you request a free class: your first and last name, email address, phone number, the program you’re interested in, and your permission to contact you.

When you or your child join: names, contact details, mailing and billing addresses, dates of birth, emergency contacts, contact preferences, member app login details, and payment card or bank details. Payment details are handled by EFC and its regulated payment providers.

When you use our website: your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you view, and how you found us, such as the referring website, the page you landed on, and any campaign tags or ad click IDs in the link you followed.

When you use the member app: with your permission, the app can use features of your device such as the camera, and can send push notifications. You can turn these off in your device settings.

We do not collect sensitive information through this website.

Children

Many of our students are children. We get a child’s details, such as their name and date of birth, from their parent or guardian, and we treat that adult as our point of contact. Our website and forms are meant to be completed by adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children. If you think a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

How we use your information

• To answer your questions and book your free class
• To enroll students, run classes and promotions, and manage memberships
• To run your member app account
• To send class, schedule and membership information
• To collect fees, handle refunds and keep required financial records
• To tell you about classes, events and offers, where you have agreed or the law allows
• To see how our website is used and which marketing brings people to us
• To block spam and fraud, protect people’s safety and meet our legal obligations

Calls, texts and emails

When you tick the box on our form, you agree that we may contact you by phone, text message or email about your free class. Message and data rates may apply. To stop texts, reply STOP to any message. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in the email. You can also contact us using the details below. We may still send messages we need to run your membership.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We share it only with:

• EFC, as described above, and the hosting and software providers it uses to run this website, our forms and our member records
• Payment providers engaged by EFC, who receive the details needed to take a payment
• Google and Cloudflare, for the website tools described in the next section
• Authorities and legal advisers, when the law requires it or we need to protect our rights or someone’s safety
• A buyer or successor, if our business is merged, sold or financed

Cookies, analytics and spam protection

• Google Analytics uses cookies to show us how our website is used. You can opt out with Google’s opt-out add-on.
• Marketing attribution. We save how you first reached our website in your browser. If you send us a form, that record and your Google Analytics identifier go with it, so we can see where the request came from.
• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that form submissions come from real people. It processes technical details about your browser and device to do this.
• Google Fonts and Google Maps. Our fonts and maps load from Google, which receives your IP address when they do.

You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended if you do. We do not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as you or your child are a member or prospective member, then for as long as we need a record of that relationship or the law requires, such as for tax and accounting. After that we delete or anonymize it. Anything held in backups stays secured and out of use until it can be deleted.

How we protect it

We and EFC use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No website or online system is completely secure, though, so we cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed without permission.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. You can withdraw your consent at any time. We may need to keep some records for legal reasons, and we may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights. Residents of California, Virginia, the EU, the UK and Canada, among others, may be able to get a copy of their data, restrict or object to how it is used, act through an authorized agent, appeal our decision, or complain to their regulator. Where laws such as the GDPR require a legal basis, we rely on your consent, our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running the academy, our legal obligations, or the need to protect someone’s vital interests.

Our website links to sites we don’t control, such as the Breakpoint FC shop, tomdeblass.com, Google, Instagram and Facebook. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will post a notice or contact you directly.
